I woke up on Friday to find that I’d been nominated for two Blog Awards. It was such an honor. It means a lot that people are remembering and thinking of Birdie Bookworm when they’re picking their own nominations.
In particular, I’d like to thank Zainab at A Bibliophile’s Obsession for nominating me for the Entertainer Blogger Award. I like to think I’m entertaining, but it’s nice to think someone else finds me entertaining too.
Now, onto the questions!
The Rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Add these rules to your post.
- Answer all the questions below.
- Display the award picture in your post.
- Nominate 12 other bloggers who are funny, inspiring and most important of all ENTERTAINING!
The Questions:
Q1. Why did you start a blog in the first place?
It all started with Goodreads. How many of us started with that? Probably a lot. Goodreads led to a love of social networking with other readers. I had reader friends growing up, but it’s not the same as immersing yourself among thousands of like minded people. That newfound love of networking made me really want to start a blog, but everything about it was intimidating.
Eventually I was invited to join an already established blog, which was perfect for learning the ropes and working out the kinks. I took the knowledge learned and decided to start Birdie Bookworm all on my own. Which brings us to today.
Q2. What is your favorite book?
So many. Though Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta are my two tip top favorites. Outlander has Jamie, and he’ll always be my #1. Jellicoe Road is the most poignantly beautiful novel I’ve ever read.
Q3. What do you dislike the most?
That’s a very broad question. If you want the serious answer, then I really hate inequality. Passionately.
If you want random answers: I hate watching people spit. Gross. I hate when people tell me how bad my bird is. They don’t know. He’s a sweet little green demon, damn it! I hate when my yorkie sits in my lap and whines at me.
If you want the bookish answer: I really really hate when someone borrows my book and folds the pages or cracks the spine. I’ve become known for my rigidity on book lending. Books are delicate and should be read delicately.
Q4. What is your favorite food item from the mall?
I don’t actually spend time at the mall. So I guess I’ll go with Olga’s, since it is my favorite and I know it’s still there. I love their little cheese balls and snackers. I love their Olga sandwich and their creamsicle drinks.
Q5. What is your favorite pastime?
Reading! If I’m not reading, then how about blogging. If you’re really being a stickler and it can’t be about books in any way, then probably my favorite is watching a really good show on television (right now it’s This Is Us) with my bird sitting with me letting me ruffle his feathers and give him scratches. Or even better, he’s dozed off snuggled against me. Cute little fluffy butt.
Congratulations!!!

Thanks so much for the nomination; I’ll do a post on this soon! I feel as though reading is almost every book blogger’s favorite hobby, though blogging is a close second. 🙂 Your bird is so cute! xx
