If you are anything like me, you get a huge rush of excitement when there’s a push in the world of reading. I was overjoyed when the kiddies discovered Harry Potter; when they were lining up at midnight to buy the new release. I actually think that Harry Potter was the start of this new reading popularity. It started with those kiddies, then Twilight carried the momentum to the teenagers. One series I loved, the other not so much, but it’s okay because both were instrumental in making books ‘cool’ again. I can’t hate that.
Which brings me to the present and my new literary-giddiness, Little Libraries.
Have you guys seen these? Are they in your neighborhood? They’re in all the neighborhoods in my area, as far as I can tell. They are simply adorable. I love the concept of take a book, leave a book. It’s much more functional than take a penny, leave a penny. Everyone needs a book, who needs a penny?
What I like the most is that I recently noticed Little Libraries popping up in business districts of my city. There’s one right outside Kroger! Right there, in the little strip mall, waiting for people to swap out an old read for a new. Clearly this means that as people pick up their milk and eggs, they’re in need of a free read. That means that more people are reading regularly.
How can a bookworm not be happy about more reading!
I so wish that I had one of these near me!

Yes! We have a few scattered around town. The rule (usually) is (if you can) take one/leave one. One person even put a bench next to it. lol. Awesome idea! 🙂
