Thank you to A book Nerd13 for nominating me for The Sunshine Blogger Award. I really appreciate it!
I’m not quite sure what ‘Sunshine Blogger’ means, maybe that it’s a happy place? If so, then that’s a really wonderful compliment! 🙂

Questions
How do you decide what to read next?
I try to stay on task with what I have scheduled for review on the blog, but mostly it’s on a whim. I just choose whatever I’m most excited for, or I gravitate to whatever I’m in the mood for. If I’ve just read a romance, I don’t read another one. I like to change genres.
Do you prefer lazy summer afternoons reading in the sun, or rainy autumn evenings with a cozy blanket and a book?
I don’t really go lay outside and read. Usually nothing distracts me while I’m reading, the exception being when I’m out in public. I’m too concerned with everyone around me to allow myself to sink down into another world. Give me rain, cozy blankets, my couch, and a book.
If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
In a perfect world I’d write some really in depth Fantasy story with amazing characters and epic world building. That’s what I’d want to be known for. The reality is I think my strength would be in writing a romance novel. Maybe someday.
Do you collect anything?
My family remembers me as a little girl obsessed with horses. Now, even as an adult, I still get a lot of horse trinkets and statues. I’ve also taken to collecting parrot decorations for my house, to go with my new parrot obsession.
How often do you go to the book store?
One to two times a month. I usually take my Grandma and we spend a few hours at the bookstore, then we have lunch. It’s our favorite outing.
Do you prefer reading books in a series as they come out, or wait to read them all at once?
I’m way too impatient to wait for a whole series to come out before I read it. I read them as soon as they come out, earlier if I can get an ARC.
What is a book that had a powerful impact on you?
I usually go with Jellicoe Road, or Outlander. Instead I’m going to say Friday Brown. In particular, the character named Silence really burrowed inside me. He waited for his sister to come back, looking for a place to call home. Needing to know he’d be remembered. I wanted everything for him.
What genre do you read most of?
Lately I’ve been obsessed with reading M/M romance novels. They probably are about 60% of my reading habits these days. That other 40% is a wide variety of genres, fantasy and contemporary are probably the second most popular though.
Do your friends/ family know about your blog?
Yep, I’ve told everyone. Some of them check and read my randomness, some of them don’t.
How do you organize your bookshelves?
I have 3 bookshelves. One is adult reads, one is YA reads, and the other is just favorite series in hardback. On the adult shelf and the YA shelf, the books are organized by series by height. I like the larger books on the edges, moving into the smaller books in the middle.
Marvel or DC?
I actually don’t read any of the comics, but if we’re talking the current screen adaptations I like them equally. I love the new Marvel movies, especially Avengers and Deadpool, a lot more than I like the DC movies. However, I adore all the DC television shows. I watch all of them: Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. (And my favorite superhero of all time is Batman.) I’m Superhero Switzerland.
My Questions
- If you could pick only one series to be turned into a television show, with your version of the perfect casting, what would it be and who would be in it?
- Have you ever gone to sleep only to dream about the book you’re reading? What book was it?
- What was the first chapter book you ever read? Is it still on your favorites list?
- What series/book does it feel like the entire world loves, but you hated it?
- What does the Sunshine Blogger Award mean to you?
- In honor of Halloween, who is the villain or bad guy that truly scares you and why?
- Do you reread, if so what book have you reread the most?
- What was the last show that you binge watched?
- What is your favorite part of blogging?
- If you could be one character in fiction, who would it be and why?
- If you could have a one on one with anyone, no holds barred, who would it be and what would you ask?

There’s just too much going on outside for me to lose myself. It could also be a security thing. I like to be aware of my physical surroundings when I’m not in my house, so I can’t concentrate on reading.
You’re welcome! 🙂

I love posts like this, because it allows me to learn so much more about the person behind the blog! Are you currently working towards writing a book, Birdie? I am impressed– writing more than a book review really intimidates me.

I got about 70 pages into a book before I started Birdie Bookworm, very very rough. I still think about it and it’s still in my head, but I haven’t written anything in nearly a year. It’s my dream to write a book though, yeah. 🙂

I have friends who are writers. Eventually, the story just forces itself to be written. I bet you’ll find this to be true for yourself, too.
