Diversity Spotlight Thursday was created by Aimal @ Bookshelves & Paperbacks.
Definitely check out Aimal’s page for the full rundown, but basically you select three books to highlight each week, using this format:
- A diverse book you have read and enjoyed
- A diverse book that has already been released but you have not read
- A diverse book that has not yet been released
A Diverse Book I Have Read and Enjoyed
I know this is a given, but this duology is very diverse. Leigh Bardugo did a wonderful job including a wide variety of people in Six of Crows and it’s a large part of what made this one of my favorites.
A Diverse Book That Has Already Been Released, but I Have Not Read
I hear this is about Jamaican and Korean immigrants, and while I already wanted to read The Sun is Also a Star realizing that it’s also incredibly diverse makes me more excited. I’m definitely bumping this one up.
A Diverse Book that Has Not Been Released
I know I’m not the only one waiting for this book. It couldn’t be published at a more relevant time, and I just know it’s going to explode. I knew that I wanted this book badly as soon as I read the synopsis.
I’m definitely looking forward to the last two! I read Six of Crows and enjoyed it. I’m just needing time to read the sequel.💁🏻

Still have to read Six of Crows and The sun is also a star. Though I didn’t knew six of crows was diverse. That just adds more to my excitement. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely agree with your pick for Six of Crows, Bardugo did a great job with the characters. The Sun is Also a Star and The Hate U Give is on my TBR, I’m pretty excited to read those. Great picks!
