January’s insights!
January’s count blows December out of the water! Look at that, I read 11 books! I feel really good about that. I also feel like I read a nice array of genres in January. I think that’s one of my monthly goals, to keep my book selection fresh. I find when I try to read too many books from the same genre I get burnt out. That’s when I find myself falling into a slump. Seeing January’s list of books read, I feel good about spreading my love out.
I do think that this was a cheat month. Both of my 5 star reads come from two of my favorites. Captive Prince is one of my all time favorite series, and Josh Lanyon is in my top 2 favorite M/M romance and mystery authors. While both of the short stories were good, I may have given them 5 stars because they mean so much to me.
I finally read Burn for Me, which has been on my to read shelf forever. I want to say it was the biggest surprise, because I kept pushing it back and it turned out so good. On the other hand, I’m not actually that surprised. Ilona Andrews is incredible author.
Also, another thing to note, I didn’t read anything that was rated lower than 3 stars. I love that. If I got my way everything I read would be good.
All in all, January was a great reading month.
What I’ve got my eye on for February?
My list of scheduled reviews for February looks more full than I like to schedule. It’s partially because TJ Klune’s next book is coming out, and that means I have to squeeze in The Queen and the Homo Jock King first. They’re the same series, and it’s TJ KLUNE! I’m also so excited that I’m going to read Burning World this month! I’ve been waiting years for this one. Fair Chance… I’m so excited for that one too. I love Josh Lanyon! February looks like it’s shaping up to be a great month.
If I can squeeze them in, I really want to read this series. Angie Elle at BaBAMB has been raving about it for weeks now. I think if I don’t get to it soon she may strangle me.
Angie, I’m working on it!
I’ve got The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett on NetGalley and I need to read it asap! I was supposed to read it before it was published but didn’t happen. I’m so behind!!

I almost didn’t read it, but at the last minute I was able to squeeze it in and I’m so glad I did! I was just talking to my daughter about that book yesterday.

I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on it… so I’ve been a bit hesitant. But I’ve gotta read it because I was approved for it on NetGalley! I’m obligated! Lol!

LOL! That’s how they get you.
I’ve seen mixed reviews too, and that’s why I almost didn’t read it. It was one of those times I was glad I didn’t listen.

The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett is on my radar. I have seen so manu conflicting reviews, I may have to cave and check it out. I really enjoyed Gilded Cage!

I can’t wait to get to Gilded Cage.
I’ve read conflicting reviews too, but I think it’s a matter of having preconceived idea. I had none, and was very pleased with it.

Ugh lucky you! I’ve been on the waiting list at the library FOREVER so I’m going to be pumped when I get to read it. I’ll probably buy it too sine I own the others!

Hahaha! I would let you live, because you let me send you one million emails per book I read! I couldn’t live without your witty banter.
So glad you had a great reading month!

Plus I’ll be starting the Fever series at some point this month, so maybe we can up my cap to two million?
