About the Book: In a matter of days, Dex has been kidnapped, tortured, killed, revived, become half Therian, offered the chance to become a spy, and accepted a proposal to marry his jaguar Therian boyfriend, Sloane Brodie. It’s been a lot to take in, and although Dex is still trying to wrap his head around everything that’s happened, he knows he has to move forward.
After the events of Smoke & Mirrors, Dex and Sloane find themselves in one of the most frightening situations of all: revealing the truth to their Destructive Delta family. When the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same, and it’s up to Dex to prove that in the face of change, the one thing that will always remain the same is family.

Thick & Thin was clearly an ‘in between’ book. Charlie Cochet says she initially planned for Thick & Thin to be a novella, but realized as she was writing that it contained information people should read before we move toward Destructive Delta’s new future. Even though this book was a lot of filler information, without it’s own real plot, I can absolutely see why Charlie wants us all to read it.
Let’s go back a step to Smoke & Mirrors… That book was a major game changer. The events that unfolded in book 7 will alter the course of the THIRDS world forever. Heavy stuff. I loved Smoke & Mirrors, I love everything about Dexter J Daley, however even I could see there was some information we didn’t get. Thick & Thin bridges the gap between Smoke & Mirrors and Darkest Hour Before Dawn.
So, not only do we get some more insight into what’s happening with Dex and Sloane, we also learn more about why they made certain decisions. It’s very valuable information to have before moving on. If you’re a THIRDS reader, don’t skip this one.
BUT, that’s not why I’ve given Thick & Thin four beautiful feathers.
One feather represents the adorable moments between Sloane and Dex. Those two are soothing to my soul. I love how Dex tames Sloane’s inner Broody Bear. I love how Sloane protects and cherish’s my hunny bunny Dex. They are an adorable couple and I’d read a story about them sleeping.
Another feather goes to the sweet scenes between Dex, Cael and Tony, because I love familial relationships and Dex’s family gets me right in the feels every single time.
The third feather goes to Ash and his waxing poetic about how much he loves his chirpy cheetah therian, Cael. That entire scene had me grinning and giggling like a school girl. I love that grouchy lion and how tender he gets with Dex’s baby brother.
And the final feather goes to the rest of Destructive Delta, because now no matter what gets tossed their way the fight to stay a family first. I love each of them like they were my own.
In my heart they are.

OK – I find it fascinating that this series is Urban Fantasy, because none of the book covers I have seen indicate that. I’m glad you enjoyed this little ‘in betweenie.’

I love that the covers don’t hint that the series is Urban Fantasy. I love this entire series, lol. These guys are my homies.

Sure – except Urban Fantasy LGBTQIA is few and far between, and it would be nice to be able to tell that from the cover. I think that would lure in more readers.

That’s possible… though I will say that my two favorite UF LGBTQIA series both have covers that don’t really shout Urban Fantasy. Maybe because I rarely find an indie cover (that shows the shifters) and don’t think they look cheesy. Which totally makes me sound like a snob…

No, a cover has to lure you in. We ALL judge (real) books by their covers. It’s what sells them!

That’s what I like to remind myself when I feel bad about judging those covers, haha.
