The birth of Birdie Bookworm
It takes me a long time to try something new, so it took me about 3 years to finally attempt to blog at all. It was 6 years before I decided to do it on my own. First, I got my feet wet on Goodreads, figuring out how I should write my reviews and working on a flow that feels comfortable. Then a friend asked if I wanted to become a co-blogger on her blog. I spent about 3 years there learning the ins and outs of blogging. When I felt ready, I started working on Birdie Bookworm, going live in July. Six years to get up the gumption.
Advice for new Bloggers
1. Don’t let yourself feel stress. Blogging is supposed to be fun first. If you can only post once a week, but you’re proud of that post, then only post once. This isn’t a race, it’s about creating a space for yourself and enjoying it. If you get stressed, you’re completely missing the point of blogging.
2. Embrace the graphics! I will read a blog that doesn’t contain pictures, but I definitely gravitate more toward blog posts that are decorated. There’s something that draws the eye when there’s something to break up the paragraphs. I’m not talking about gifs either, because too many of those makes my eyeballs tremble. I mean just a well placed pretty picture.
Nominations
I am going to break the rule with this one just a little bit. I’m only going to nominate 5 blogs. I just think a nomination of 15 blogs is too many.
If you’ve already been tagged, let me know where! I’d love to read what you wrote.
Thank you so much for the tag, I actually just got tagged to do this by someone else, so I’ll have to thank you both in my post!

I so agree on the graphics thing, I love a pretty blog and posts with pictures always are easier on the eyes. I wish I had more pretty graphics on my blog for the title and other things, but as of right now, I haven’t been able to add any. 🙃

You always have pretty header graphics though, and I love that you include the covers of the books. I really like your blog. 🙂

That is some great advice! Man I love that last line “If you get stressed, you’re completely missing the point of blogging.” can I get that on a t-shirt? Like that is the best thing ever, and it is so completely true! I’m glad you decided to start this blog because I like reading what you have to say, and chatting! 😀

I should put it on a shirt, haha. That would make an awesome giveaway!

Loved your advice!!!! Definitely agree that blogging is supposed to be fun and not stressful. Thanks for that reminder cause I needed it myself at the moment lol. I love beautiful graphics. They definitely catch my eye as well. I’m happy you’re here!

Thank you so much, Gretchen. And I think I mentioned the stressful thing particularly because it’s an area where I need to be better. I’m obsessed with my schedule and making sure I have enough content and versatility in post type. It’s hard to not get caught up.

Yes I completely understand how that goes!! Sometimes I have to remind myself that it’s not the end of the world if I don’t post more than once a week lol.

That’s some awesome advice! I’m definitely a mood blogger, sometimes two weeks will pass without me posting anything and sometimes I’ll post three days in a row.

I totally think that’s how we should be. Like, a blogging/reading diary. And who really writes in their diary every day?? 🙂

That’s a great analogy! Especially because I’ve been keeping a diary for years and every year, I tell myself to write at least a little every day and it never ends up happening 😀 .

LOL! It’s just way to restrictive.
