Ten Books I Read in One Day

I don’t read a book in one day much anymore.  Time just doesn’t allow it, unfortunately.  However, there have been some that I loved so much I finished MOST of it in one day.  Meaning, I may have been at like 6% when I picked it up that morning, but then I read all of the rest of it in one sitting.

Some of you may be thinking that I’m being too literal.  I mean, reading 94% of a book in a day is still a huge feat, and I would agree with you.  I just want to make sure that I’m honest with myself, and 94% isn’t 100%.

See how hard I am on myself!

The other thing is, length has nothing to do with how fast I read a book.  It really has to hook me so I hold on tightly and forget everything going on around me at home.  I have to stop hearing my bird squawk, or whatever show my husband put on the television.  I love my shows, and my birds, so that’s not easy thing to do.

Here are the books that succeeded.

The Foxhole Court1. The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic

This is the most recent book I read in one day.  I recently wrote a review for the series.  Basically it’s the most emotionally confusing book I’ve ever read.  It has all the pitfalls of books I despise, and yet as I was reading it I was so sucked into the story that I forgave everything I would usually rip apart.  I even read the trilogy back to back.  I’m still confused, actually.

the-radius-of-us2. The Radius of Us by Marie Marquardt

The interesting thing is that it’s always the ones I’d never suspect that are the ones I can’t let go of.  There was something about The Radius of Us that glued this book to my fingers and wouldn’t let me put it down.  Maybe it was because of it’s relevance to today’s world, or how well the characters were done.  Something about it just spoke to me.

Simon Homo Sapiens Agenda3. Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I bet this one will be on a lot of people’s lists.  Not only did I read this book in one day, but it’s also the first book that my daughter (Baby Chick) read in one day too.  You can’t help but get sucked into Simon and Blue’s story, and even when my daughter was rereading, I was looking over her shoulder to read all their emails.  It is so cute.

Carry the Ocean4. Carry the Ocean by Heidi Cullinan

I feel like this is a book I bring up a lot.  It was just really really good.  Once I picked it up, it chained itself to my hands and wouldn’t let me go.  Jeremey and Emmet have such a romantic, beautiful relationship.  This is one of those books where every time I think about it, I immediately want to reread.

6. HIM and US by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

Words cannot express my love for these book.  Jamie and Wes are one of my biggest ships.  I love everything about them.  I love how in HIM we see the two of them fall in love, and I adored how in US we got to watch them attempt to live life as a couple.  Wes and Jamie are perfection.

How to Be a Normal Person Wolfsong Bear Otter Kid Tell Me It's Real

7, 8, 9, & 10. My four favorite TJ Klune books: HTBANP, Wolfsong, BOatK, Tell Me It’s Real

TJ actually writes longer romances, and I still read each of these in one day.  There’s just something about his writing that makes me unable to put them down.  That’s why I’m always on pins and needles for his new releases, and why I’ll continue to be a major fan of his work.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. I’ve been meaning to read Simon vs. for soooo long! They’re currently filming the movie and I’ll go see it FOR SURE because Nick Robinson is in it 😀 Anyway, I definitely need to get to it before the movie comes out!

  2. The cover for Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda has caught my eye. It’s a book I’ve heard of before but for some reason never actually read it. I think I’ll have to add it to my never-ending tbr because it sounds like a good story 🙂

  3. Simon has definitely made a lot of lists this week, including mine. It’s a truly adorable book. The only other book I’ve read on your list is The Foxhole Court, although I can’t say I enjoyed it. It had potential to be really deep and meaningful and explore important issues but I didn’t feel any of that 😦
