Dreamy Book Covers Tag

I love book covers!  I love talking about the good ones, and whining about the bad ones.  I love when the cover is perfect for the story, and I actually pay attention to the depictions and models and notice when they don’t match the book descriptions.  I try my hardest to not judge a book by the cover, but sometimes they’re so good (or so bad) that you just can’t help yourself.  It’s like being told to eat something that looks so completely unappealing!

Anyway, thank you to Mandy for tagging me in The Book Covers Tag.  This one is going to be so much fun.  You guys, pop on over and visit her blog, Book Princess Reviews.  It’s very unique and adorable!

  5. List the rules

“NO IDEAS BUT IN THINGS”
A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it.

The Scorpio Races

I love (nearly) every book cover that has ever graced a Maggie Stiefvater novel.  They’re always stunning.  This one is the best representation though, I think.  You see the horse coming out of the water, you feel the power that’s a little frighting, but it also looks magical and mesmerizing, like her prose. It’s gorgeous.

“DARK AND LOVELY”
A book cover that is so creepalicious you just want to eat it up.

a-monster-calls

I have quite a few of creepy covers, but the artwork on the cover of A Monster Calls (and inside) is so haunting and gorgeous.  It evokes such emotion from you, just to look at it.  Jim Kay is a brilliant artist, and I think this book is the best of his best.

“SUGARY SWEET”
A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug.

eleanor-park

I love the cover of this book.  I love the connected headphones, because even though they’re not close they’re still together.  I love what it symbolizes from the story.  I think it’s an adorable representation of Eleanor and Park and what brings them together.  It’s literally super cute.

“THE SIMPLE AESTHETIC”
A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design.

Carry the Ocean

This is one of my favorite covers on a romance novel.  I love the way it embodies the title, and the concept of carrying a load as heavy as the ocean.  Not to mention that it’s so simple and elegant.  I think it’s one of my all time favorites.

“COVER ENVY”
A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet.

release

I feel like I have a style when it comes to covers.  I like expressive imagery, I suppose.  Like Release, one of the books I want the most, I’ve never read it but somehow looking at that cover you already know exactly how the main character feels.  It already emotes.  It’s gorgeous, and I want it!

“TRAVELING ABROAD”
A beautiful book cover featuring a country outside of your own.

Anna

I almost chose this for the cuddly cute cover, but come on!  It’s got the Eiffel Tower in the background, and nearly the entire book takes place in France.  I loved these cute as heck covers so much, and was raving mad when the publishing company changed them.  Boo.

“THE COLOR WHEEL”
A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors.

quintana

I love forest green!  It’s been my favorite color since I was a little girl and all my dark greens would be worn down in my crayon box.  This book, Quintana of Charyn, has the perfect shade of green.  (And it’s gorgeous.  I could stare at this book for hours.)

“SWITCHING GEARS”
A cover change you absolutely adore.

This is going to sound horrible, but I don’t have anything for this category.  I hate cover changes.  I tried to search for books that had bad covers, to see if there were any updates, but I couldn’t find one and the cover changes I can think of were all worse than the original.  I dislike change, honestly.

“OLDIE BUT GOODIE”
A favorite cover of your favorite classic.

Anne

Anne of Green Gables, my kindred spirit.  I love the entire box set of these books, but there’s something about this first one.  That’s almost exactly how I picture Anne, with Green Gables behind her.  It makes me want to reread, or at least rewatch the movie.

“AND THE WINNER IS…”
Which book cover mentioned above is your favorite?

Carry the Ocean

It was hard to pick between Carry the Ocean, or Release.  I have to go with Carry the Ocean though, because it’s just really so gorgeous.  I love the introspective look on the models face, and the ocean flowing through his profile.  It’s stunning to me.

Tag!

Tagging is the hardest part of these, I think.  I don’t want anyone to feel pressured or that they have to play because they were tagged.  You don’t, I swear.  It’s just me passing on the game, if you want to only.  My feelings won’t be hurt.  With that said, here are my tags today:

Ignited Moth | Nerd in New York
Kati’s Bookaholic Rambling Reviews | Bionic Book Worm

Thanks again to Mandy for the tag!  I hope you all enjoyed my selections.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.  🙂

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.
