It’s time!
No more procrastinating!
Ba_BAMB and I are teaming up to read the Shadow and Bone series, and we’re sending out an open invitation! If you’ve been like me, putting off reading this incredibly popular series, hop on our read-along train and go for the ride with us! Now is the time!
Discussions will be posted on both blogs on the dates listed in the graphic below. If you decide you want to join, let us know in the comments so everyone’s part of the conversation!
Series Description From Goodreads:
Set primarily in the fictional country of Ravka, there is a form of magic that exists known as The Small Science. Those who can wield it are called Grisha, powerful practitioners considered to be a part of an exclusive class. Those who do not possess this power are called Otkazat’sya, and function normally as shopkeepers, laborers and soldiers.
Woohoo! No more excuses now for me not to start this trilogy 🙈

I’ve been trying more YA lately – haven’t been very successful yet but I won’t give up.:D I welcome any reason to pick up a new YA novel.

Lol – didn’t like the gloom and doom of A Court of Thorne and Roses and Schwab isn’t wowing me either, but I’ll nevertheless read book 3. That’s all so far.;-) Loved TRUST by Kylie Scott but apparently that’s not a real YA book.;-)

I haven’t read ACoTaR yet, but it’s on my list. I wasn’t a fan of Throne of Glass though. I did love Shades of Magic. I also haven’t read Trust, lol. So I have no idea if that’s YA or not. Let me know if you do want recs though. 😀

Yes, please recs!!!!! Not the gloom and doom please. Something that has humor, mature as possible characters, interesting plot, and witty dialogues. Is that even possible?

Absolutely, it is. I’m not sure what genre’s you’d like, but here are a few from different genres: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, Six of Crows, Clockwork Angel… and you might like the one I’m reading now, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.

OMG – I’ve seen The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue everywhere lately. Already have it requested at the library. Heard great things. I have Six of Crows – maybe I should pick it up next. ;D And I definitely heard of Clockwork Angel. I’ll check out The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian the title sounds intriguing. THANK YOU!!!

Part Time Indian is like a comedy semi-fictional memoir of the authors life. It’s worth reading, for sure. Six of Crows is a spinoff of Shadow and Bone, so you could wait… if you wanted to read those in order. And Gentleman’s Guide is definitely funny, romantic, and the characters are mostly mature. I’m really enjoying it. 😀
