Diversity Spotlight Thursday was created by Aimal @ Bookshelves & Paperbacks. (The link takes you to her original Diversity Spotlight post, where she talks about her motivation for creating this meme. You should check it out.)
As I was searching for another meme to participate in I was especially drawn to Diversity Spotlight Thursday. I do love the idea of sharing books with a wide range of characters, but it was also because I’m always on the hunt for reading material that showcases people who are different from myself.
The way it works is simple. You select three books to highlight each week, using this format:
- A diverse book you have read and enjoyed
- A diverse book that has already been released but you have not read
- A diverse book that has not yet been released
A Diverse Book I Have Read and Enjoyed
Maybe it’s because I just read this book, or because it’s one of my favorite series, but I really love how diverse JCP’s cast is. What I really love is that it’s a diverse book that isn’t about diversity. They’re just a group of every day diverse friends, and I love it.
A Diverse Book That Has Already Been Released, but I Have Not Read
(Lord, I just love that cover!) This book has been out a while, and I’ve heard so many good things. Out of all the LGBT books I’ve read, I’ve never read one that was F/F, and this looks the perfect book to delve in. I just need to get my grabby little hands on it.
A Diverse Book that Has Not Been Released
I’m taking a wild guess with this one. Lunar Chronicles was pretty diverse, and even though it wasn’t my favorite I can’t help but really want Renegades. I’m really hoping that Marissa Meyer doesn’t let us down and this new group of superheroes brings all the diversity!
