This tag looks like lots of fun! I like the idea of talking about why I decided to pick up a book I love. A huge thank you to Stephanie at Novel Fiction for tagging me! I love being tagged. 🙂
Everyone, please hop over and check out her amazing blog.
I’m going to do my best to not reuse any answers I have in previous tags, just to make it a bit harder on myself.
1. Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a blue cover.
What made you want to pick up this book?
This one’s easy! I bought it in hardcover because it’s Neal Shusterman. I also knew I wanted it because the subject matter was one that was relevant to Neal Shusterman’s life. I knew that it had to be amazing.
♥
2. Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did.
Why did you read it in the first place?
Simple… I chose to read this one simply because I love sports romance and I’d yet to read anything about divers. I’d never read the author before, and I thought it was going to be a dud, but I still couldn’t resist trying.
♥
3. Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random.
How did you discover this book?
This one isn’t really fair since Undivided is the fourth book in a series, so instead I’ll say that I started this series solely on recommendations from Goodreads. It seems like, oh way back when, everyone was reading this series and raving about it. I’d already read Everlost, so I thought I might as well give it a try. Now I’m a Neal Shusterman fanatic.
♥
4. Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you.
What did you think of it?
My friend loves Santino to the level that I love TJ, so I decided it was time to give him a good shot. I ended up enjoying it, but unfortunately I wasn’t completely in love with it. I did just read Illegal Contact and that one was awwwesoooome. (I’m singing that, btw.)
♥
5. Pick a book that you discovered through YouTube / book blogs.
Did it live up to the hype?
I’d never heard of this book before starting Birdie Bookworm, but immediately it was all over the blogosphere! As soon as I read the blurb I knew I had to read it, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Currently it’s the best LGBT YA book I’ve ever read.
♥
6. Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a one-word title.
What drew you to this book?
I bought this book because that cover is awesome… oh who am I kidding, that model is delicious. I think he’s one of the hottest cover models I’ve ever seen. He’s the reason I had a massive crush on Atticus.
♥
7. What book did you discover through a film / TV adaptation?
I’d heard of this series before, especially when I was reading Wheel of Time. People were telling me I should try A Song of Fire & Ice, but it wasn’t until I watched the first season that I started reading it. I read the first two, then never went back. They were good, just too long for me these days.
♥
8. Think of your all-time favorite book/s.
When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?
My favorite book of all time, and I discovered this brilliant series through my older sister. She was huge fan of historical romance and read this first, then convinced me. I was 14, and I’m 38 now, so it’s been my favorite for a very long time.

That’s so awesome that Outlander has been your favorite book for so long! I feel that way with Lord of the Rings and Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta. Some books really stand the test of time!
LikeLike
Oh my, Jellicoe Road is my other most favorite book! I own it in hardcover and paper and my husband was trying to convince me to get rid of one last night. I had to debate the merits of owning both copies while he and my daughter laughed.

Thanks for the tag! 😀 I’m 100% with you when it comes to Shusterman books. I also only started reading ASOIAF after the pilot of Game of Thrones, but I haven’t been able to let go 😛 They’re still taking over my life. And Outlander ❤

I did like the two Ice and Fire books I read, but reading them is such a commitment, haha. Maybe eventually I’ll get back to the series. (Outlander’s size doesn’t count. I love those books!)

Hahahaha, I was just going to say: but Outlander is huuuge! XD Yeah, I read the first 3 ASOIAF books while I was traveling and had no internet connection, so it was easier to commit to it 😛

Oh yeah, for sure. I think keeping enough content for Birdie Bookworm is what limits my page count. 🙂

If you like Game of Thrones you should totally try Outlander, they’re so different but in epicness they’re similar. Plus, I’m pretty sure the authors are friends.

So, this is a bit embarrassing… but I’ve never heard of Neal Shusterman before now! *ducks under table* But seriously, after checking out Goodreads I know I’ve seen his books around before. It looks like I need to dig into some! Where would you recommend I start?
LikeLike
Oh my GOSH! He’s so imaginative and original! I started with Everlost, which is about kids who have passed away and on their way ‘to the light’ they are knocked off the path and into the dark, which is an inbetween world called Everlost. It’s strange, but soooo creative. His most popular work, I think, is Unwind though. It’s one that really makes you think… actually, all of his books stretch your mind.

That’s great! I have needed something to make me thing lately, but without pushing my reading abilities too hard– if you know what I mean. 😀 I’ll have to look into them. Everlost and Unwind are now both on my TBR. Thanks!
