I love this tag!  I think it goes really well with the Greek Tag, I think someone should come up with a Roman God tag, or a Hawaiian God tag.  We could have a whole set.  It would be so fun.  🙂

ODIN – Favorite Standalone

Odin is the All-Father, the leader of the Norse Gods. He is the god of wisdom, poetry, battle, death, wine, and war, among other things.

I always feel like I should give new answers when I do a tag, but then I read the question and I’m pretty much boxed in.  Jellicoe Road is my favorite standalone.  Picking a different book wouldn’t be honest.  I’ve read this book quite a few times and it always affects me deeply, every time.  Never fails.

THOR – A Book that Hits You in the Feels

Thor is the god of thunder, weather, warriors, strength, and storms, so his might packs a punch. He is married to the beautiful Lady Sif.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I read Friday Brown.  I can tell you that it completely wrecked me.  It ripped my heart apart, and while I absolutely love it, I also hurt every time I think of it.  If you want to be wrecked, like I was, then definitely pick it up.

LOKI – Biggest Book Plot Twist or Character Betrayal

Loki is the god of mischief, thieves and thrives on chaos.

Questions like these feel like spoilers.  I don’t want to ruin any good books, so without giving you any information, I’m going to say that my biggest betrayal happened in Golden Son.  It completely flipped this series around heartbreakingly.

FRIGG – OTP

Frigg is Odin’s wife, the goddess of love, marriage, fertility, and fate.

If I’m thinking One True Pairing the first couple that pops into my mind is Ryan Wesley and Jamie Canning from Him and Us.  I think part of what makes you fall so crazy in love with this story is that it’s obvious from the beginning that they are meant to be.  Not only are they in love, but they’re also best friends.  They are the epitome of OTP.

HEIMDALL – Favorite Second Book in a Series

Heimdall is the god of loyalty, faithfulness and he is who protects the bi-frost, the bridge that connects all nine worlds.

I love this entire series, from beginning to end, but there is something really special about Prince’s Gambit.  I think it’s because that’s when Damen and Laurent really started to bond.  It went beyond Prince and Slave and you started to feel where the story was going.  It was glorious.

SIF – Most Beautiful Book Cover

Lady Sif is known for her beautiful golden tresses, although she is also the goddess of the harvest and is married to Thor.

Maggie Stiefvater has the most gorgeous covers I’ve ever seen.  Her cover art is breathtaking, but Blue Lily, Lily Blue is probably my favorite.  There’s something so earthly about it, wild, and I love the colors.  It’s really beautiful.

FREY – Book/Series that Makes You Happy

Frey is the Lord of weather, god of light, summer, master of agriculture, fertility, and brother of Freya.

I discovered this book when I was a young teenager.  Since then I’ve read it so many times that my copy fell apart and I had to rebuy it.  Whenever I’m in a reading slump I pick this book up for a reread and it’s almost like pressing the reset button.  I don’t know what it is that made me love it so much.  It’s funny, but it’s not groundbreaking.  There’s just something about it that makes me happy.

FREYA – Favorite Book Setting

Freya is the goddess of love and beauty, fertility, war, wealth and growth, and sister of Frey.

There are a lot of really incredible worlds.  I mean, I think we’d all agree that living in the Wizarding World would be amazing.  That world used to be my answer to this question, until I read the Shades of Magic trilogy.  I loved the idea of Four Londons, all separated by magical holes that only a select few could travel.  So original.

TYR – Favorite Book with a Big Upheaval/Epic Fight Scene

Tyr is the god of war.

This is a tough one.  I read a lot of books with fight scenes, but those aren’t really the scenes that interest me.  I’m more about the character development and the emotional aspects.  I guess one that stayed in my mind was the final scene of Scythe.  Rowan, in particular, was pretty sweet.

ULLER – Character Death that Affected You the Most

Uller is the god of death, winter, archery and hunting.

I know I’m reusing books, but I can’t help it.  I have to answer the questions honestly, which would be Friday Brown.  Seriously, I was destroyed when I finished.  I think it’s the only time I woke up crying even the next morning.

NJORD – Favorite Book that’s an Epic Journey on Water/Ocean Setting

Njord is the god of the wind and the sea.

I’m cheating just a little bit with this one.  See, only half of the story has a water setting, and technically even that is a delusion.  I still think it counts though.  It still takes place on the ocean, on a pirate ship.  Whether it’s really happening or not is subjective.  To Caden it felt real.

VALKYRIE – Favorite Strong Female Character

The Valkyries, much like the Amazons, are strong female warriors.

It would be so easy to pick someone from a Fantasy novel, or a kickass warrior woman.  Usually I would go with Quintana or Delilah Bard, but instead I’m going to go another way.  I’m going to pick Natalie from Cream of the Crop for her confidence and fierceness.  She made me feel strong.

AESIR/VANIR – Favorite Book “Crew”

The Aesir and the Vanir are the two groups of Norse gods, believed to be the old and new gods.

I think I’m picking the same answers as the last few people who did this tag.  I don’t know how anyone could pick something different, provided they’ve read it.  Kaz and his crew of Crows is definitely the best group I’ve ever read about.  I was sad this was only 2 books.

SEIPYRTS – Favorite Sidekick (Non-Human Character)

Seipyrts is Odin’s trusty eight legged steed, yes you heard that correctly – eight legs.  I promise that he is the god’s horse companion and not a giant spider that he rides around on… although that would probably strike more fear in the hearts of his enemies than a pretty horse does.

One word for you, Manchee.  If you’ve read this, you get it.  If you haven’t, then read it!
