Top Ten Tuesday | The Book Boyfriend

I feel like I’ve done similar book boyfriend posts before, but since it’s one of my favorite topics I just had to do it again.

I can’t wait to see who everyone else chose!

#1 Boyfriend!

Jamie Fraser from Outlander
by Diana Gabaldon

outlander

I had one last try.  “Does it bother you that I’m not a virgin?”
He hesitated a moment before answering.  “Well, no,” he said slowly, “so long as it doesna bother you that I am.” He grinned at my drop-jawed expression, and backed toward the door.  “Reckon one of us should know what they’re doing,” he said.
The door closed softly behind him; clearly the courtship was over.

Jamie has been my love since I was about 14 years old.  He will be forever.  He’s my #1.  While I think Sam Heughan is an amazing, Jamie from the books has my heart.

Alpha Boyfriends!

Jericho Barrons from Fever
by Karen Marie Moning

darkfever

He pulls me around and kisses me. “You’re Mac,” he says. “And I’m Jericho. And nothing else matters. Never will. You exist in a place that is beyond all rules for me. Do you understand that?”
I do.
Jericho Barrons just told me he loves me.

I never thought anyone would come close to Jamie in my heart, but Barrons definitely came close.  Oddly enough, they’re very different characters.  Barrons isn’t ‘good’, but I love him anyway.  He’s the reason Fever will always be one of the best UF series around.

Mad Rogan from Hidden Legacy
by Ilona Andrews

burn-for-me

“Can you turn so you’re not pressed against me?”
“I could,” he said, his voice amused. “But then you would have to lie on top of me.”
My brain said, “NO.” My body went, “Wheee!”

My reaction to Rogan surprised me.  He reminds me a lot of Barrons, which I think is why I love him so much, but usually that comparison upsets me.  It doesn’t here.  I just think both of them are sexy alphas.

Rikkard Ambrose from Storm and Silence
by Robert Thier

storm-and-silence

He grabbed my chin, pulling me towards him. ‘In my dreams,’ he told me, his voice still as hard and cold as an iceberg, ‘more interesting things happen. Things that involve the two of us’.

Ambrose fits in the same category as Barrons and Rogan.  The three of them together are ‘top dogs’ of their individual worlds.  Nobody effs with them.  They take what they want.  They love fiercely.  I think I’m more of an alpha fangirl than I used to think.

Terrible from Downside Ghosts
by Stacia Kane

unholy-ghosts

“Shit. I want you, Chess. Make no mistake on that one, dig? Want you bad. So bad I ain’t even can think of any else sometimes, ’cept gettin you under me. Ain’t give a fuck what pills you swallow get you through the day, or what happens you ain’t got em, aye? Still want you.”

When it comes to romance, I think Terrible really wins the award.  Despite how rough he is, and how violent and scary the world finds him, he never hesitates to show his tender side to Chessie.  That’s the secret to a good Alpha boyfriend.  The ability to let down their guard and be vulnerable with their partner.

Comedian Boyfriends!

Izzy Zanella from Troubleshooters
by Suzanne Brockmann

Breaking the Rules

“Go fuck yourself!”  Dan said genuinely pissed off.
“I’ve found that I’m a little shy for such blatantly public display of self-affection. Besides, I like to be wined and dined before I have my way with myself. I’m an old-fashioned kind of guy.”

Izzy fits in another category.  He’s more of the strong, sarcastic, always has something ridiculous to say.  He’s the character that always makes you laugh.  He’s completely over the top, but completely spectacular.

Blake Riley from Good Boy & Us
by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy

good-boy

“Jessie?”
“Hmmm?”
“I’m glad we’re dating now.” Cue her arguments in 3…2…1…
“We’re…not dating.”
I grin at the ceiling. “Sure we are. We did it on my bed.” I shrug. “That means we’re dating.”
“That’s not how it works!” she protests, raking a hand through her golden hair. “You don’t date people. Everyone says so. I mean, you’re just going there now because we had spectacular sex and you want more of it. It’s just the dopamine talking. I read up on this for my pharmacology exam.”
I snort. “You’re saying I’m driving under the influence of orgasms?”

Blake is very similar to Izzy, but I think he’s even more ridiculous.  (I say ridiculous, but it’s with an immense amount of love and affection.)  He always has something so… Blake to say.  Even if you’re not a fan of romance, Blake Riley will win you over.  He’s a giant puffball.

Random Boyfriend!

Barbie from Under the Dome
by Stephen King

under-the-dome

They walked back into the world together, wearing the gift that had been given them: just life. Pity was not love, Barbie reflected…but if you were a child, giving clothes to someone who was naked had to be a step in the right direction.

Man, that quote SUCKS!  The thing about Stephen King is he doesn’t really post quotes that show why you love a character.  His books aren’t really character driven like that.  I can’t explain why I loved Barbie so much, only that I did.  I think it was the scene in the cell, but I fell in love with him.

Television Boyfriend!

Logan Echolls from Veronica Mars
by Rob Thomas! (and Jennifer Graham)

Veronica Mars

Logan: I thought our story was epic, you know, you and me.
Veronica: Epic how?
Logan: Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed. EPIC.
Veronica: Come on. Ruined lives? Bloodshed? You really think a relationship should be that hard?
Logan: No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.

I know this is cheating, but I don’t care.  I think that, since there are books, I can still bend the rules and count it.  (And don’t bother pointing out that my quote is from the show, because my fingers are in my ears!  I’m counting it!)  I love Logan Echolls.  I have watched the show many times now, and I love him just as much every time.  I need more movies.  I need more books.  I need more Logan!

YA Boyfriend!

Han Alister from Seven Realms
by Cinda Williams Chima

demon-king

Han smiled then, a bright, charming smile that lit up the room, more dangerous than any blade.
All you ever needed was that smile, she thought. I’d have given in immediately.

I love Fantasy YA novels.  I’ve read many of them, and I’ve loved many of the characters, but I’ve loved none of them the way I fell for Han.  Every time I think about him I immediately want to reread.  (Just not Flamecaster.  Bad Flamecaster.  Bad!)

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

I had a hard time with this one. I haven’t ready very many books with guys in them that I really swooned over! 🙂
I quickly pulled a list together though.
Your’s is giving me a few to add to my tbr pile!

  2. Jamie is a wonderful hunk of man who was fierce, but oh so tender when it came to Claire. I was a Logan fan with the show, and it continued with the movie and the books. I am glad to see you included the hero from Good Boy. I have that shortlisted on my TBR and hope to get to it really soon.

  3. Ooo book boyfriends is one of my favorite topics too! I keep seeing the Outlander series in the blogosphere lately. I think it’s about time I read it, but the sheer size of it intimidates me!
