It’s time for another Top 5 Tuesday!
This week is all about favorites we don’t talk about enough, which sounds like so much fun. I feel like I’m constantly pushing my favorites, so this wasn’t easy. I ended up picking five I don’t think I’ve talked about on Birdie Bookworm -At least not much.
I can’t wait to see what everyone else chooses!
Top 5 Tuesday was started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm!
Living with the Fall by Hannah Thompson
It kills me how unknown this book is. It’s such an exceptional Dystopian zombie novel that everyone should read it. Plus, it has LGBT main characters, and yet their sexuality isn’t relevant to the story. They just are who they are in this world. I’d love for one of you to read it, because I have nobody to talk to about it.
Hard Time by Cara McKenna
There are so many romance novels I talk about all the time. I know I haven’t talked about Hard Time enough. It’s the most ridiculous story, about a librarian falling in love with an inmate (in Detroit, which is close to where I live). It was sexy and hot, Eric was so adorable, and I loved how he treated Annie. It’s definitely up there as one of my favorite M/F romance novels!
Special Forces: Soldiers by Aleksandr Voinov & Marquesate
Soldiers is NOT for the faint of heart. The first quarter of the book is one of the most brutal stories I’ve ever read. The two main characters, Vadim and Dan, do some of the worst things to each other. You feel like there’s no way they could ever become friends, let alone lovers. Yet, somehow the authors not only made me believe it, they made me crave it. It one of the most intense romances I’ve ever read.
Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta
I’ve talked about Jellicoe Road so much, and it’s true that I do love it the most, but I really should talk more about Saving Francesca more. Not only are these characters so well written, but the way Frankie’s moms depression was written, it was so powerful. It made me cry. And it brought me two of my most favorite characters, Thomas McKee and Jimmy Hailer.
Feed by Mira Grant
Wonderful list! I’ll definitely check these books out.

I confess – there were three of your books I’d never even heard of. And I have to agree – I don’t talk about Hard Time enough, either!

Yes. I like how Cara McKenna is able to take a harsh topic and put a gentle spin on it.

It’ll probably be a while before you see that review! Lol. I’ve got a pile of ARCs to get through, and a POPSUGAR Reading Challenge to complete. My year might already be booked (see what I did there?) I hope it’s not. I need time to squeeze in a few more titles somewhere!!

I really need to read Saving Francesca considering I love Jellicoe Road so much. And the fact that it’s been sitting on my shelf for over a year. But I’ve heard such good things about it that I feel like I need be *perfectly* ready for it. Hopefully my expectations are not too high!! But I think I’ll like it regardless!
