This was SO hard! I realized how rarely I actually buy a book on cover alone. I usually base my selections off my friends reviews, authors I already like, or just my gut feeling. With the five books below, my gut feeling wasn’t so sure, but there was no way I could pass up those covers!
Top 5 Tuesday was started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm!
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I never had any intention to read The Grisha Trilogy, and as its spin-off I also had no intention to read Six of Crows. Then I walked through the B&N doors and saw that cover, and those black pages, and it was o-v-e-r.
I had to have this book. Luckily it turned out to be as epic as the cover art!
Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion
Okay, so the idea of a zombie love story caught my eye, but really it was that cover. I love the billowing red behind R who’s shambling down the desolate road… I don’t know, it just speaks to me. So, while I was intrigued by the concept, I really bought it for the cover. ‘Zombie romance’ was too scary to woo me alone.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
I saw the cover of Caraval online and thought it looked cool, but not enough to make me buy it. It was getting mostly good reviews, but I thought it would be slow, and I saw a few negative reviews that only reenforced my lack of interest. Then, like Six of Crows, I saw it in the bookstore and it practically glowed. There’s a shimmer on this book that’s stunning. I ended up buying it that day.
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren
Just like Warm Bodies, I didn’t read this in spite of the synopsis. I actually thought it sounded really intriguing. However, I decided to buy it in print only because of how gorgeous this cover is. There’s two teenagers standing on a book, a book! And then the sunrise behind them, the color scheme. It’s really beautiful.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
These are some great covers! I just read Warm Bodies and had only ever seen the movie tie-in cover, but my library had the book with the above cover. It’s cool!

You picked the perfect word for the cover of Nevernight – irresistible! I LOVE that cover! But the cover could be absolute crap and I would still buy anything Jay Kristoff lol! And Six of Crows was a purchase for the same reason for me – the cover and the black pages….. SOLD!
Thanks so much for participating – added you to the list!

Thanks! NOW I’d read anything by Jay Kristoff, but before Nevernight he intimidated me!

These are some lovely covers! I like The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo so I might give Six of Crows a go 😛 It certainly has a nice cover.
And autobiography has such lovely colours :O I am in love

Leigh Bardugo does book covers well, that’s for sure! What really sells Six of Crows are the black stained pages. 🙂

I am totally with you about the lure of Nevernight’s cover. It’s like scary, but so enticing. You’re like compelled to dive in and investigate! I absolutely adore this topic and wish I had known about it sooner. I did TTT this week instead if you want to check that out lol: http://nerdnarrationblog.wordpress.com/2018/02/06/top-ten-tuesday-newest-book-purchases/

Right, it’s got that scariness, but you just want to know more too.
I loved this topic too. It’s so much fun!

I love topics that are super subjective like quotes/cover art, because then there’s such a variety in the posts. Now if I could just avoid added 800 more books to my TBR lol

Warm Bodies the book has amusing moments, but it’s has more depth than Warm Bodies the movie. Have you seen it?

I loved it too, haha! It’s one of my favorites. It just went in a funnier direction than the original book, but a lot of it is true to the story.

I’m the same. I don’t buy books for their covers alone, but a good cover can tip me over the edge if I’m undecided. And w/ Six of Crows, it wasn’t even the cover that did it, it was the damn colored page edges lol. The shimmer on Caraval sounds really pretty!

It WAS the colored page edges! I would have loved the cover either way, but those black pages made it completely irresistible!

Six of Crows is seriously a stunner of a book. The black-edged pages, the cover, the maps, it really has it all. And it’s a fabulous book to boot! 😀
I love when you luck out and buy a book based off the cover and it doesn’t disappoint. 🙂

Great List 🌸
That Caraval cover is really beautiful, sadly I wasn’t a big fan of the story. I also think Six of Crows is really pretty, in a bit of a darker way, it is also very high on my TBT for this year!
