The High’s & Low’s!
Oh my gosh, the best book I read was DEFINITELY Ravensong! It was amazing, being back with Ox and Joe, reading about Mark and Gordo’s past and future. It was exactly what I’d been hoping for. I honestly can’t rave about it enough, so expect to see it on a lot of lists in the coming months.
I also listened to the audio of Carry the Ocean. It was so beautiful. Iggy Toma is definitely up there as one of my favorite audio narrators ever. It made me fall in love with Emmett and Jeremey all over again. I’m clamoring to get the sequel, because I’m not ready to let go of his narration.
I’m also very proud of myself for revisiting a book I quit a few months ago. I don’t remember why I didn’t continue reading Into the Drowning Deep at the time. Something must have been going on in my life that prevented me from really connecting to the story. Thankfully I was ready for it this time around, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It reaffirms how much I love Mira Grant’s books, and her imagination for horror. Who would have ever thought the scariest book I’ve read would be about mermaids! It definitely makes me want to go back and try some other stories I quit.
Next Month Reads
On the Schedule
I decided to try something new for August. I’m not picking any potential reads. Last month I didn’t read any of the books I selected. I’ve been mood reading, and it’s been wonderful. I stand at my shelf, peruse the options, and select what calls to me. I feel like it’s reinvigorating me. I’m also not requesting a lot of books either. It’s been nice not having a huge backlog of books to read. (I do have some, and they are on my radar, but I need to decompress a bit. Or, as my husband likes to say, I need to decompose a little bit.)
I do have Magic Triumph’s on the horizon, and I’m both elated to read it and heartbroken at the same time. I feel like losing Kate and Curran will be the end of an era and I’m just not ready to say goodbye. I don’t think I’d ever be ready.
I also requested Keeper of the Bees, on a whim. The cover stopped me, and the synopsis hooked me. I hope it’s not a bust.
Keeper of the Bee is on my list too! And ravensong has been preordered but with what TJ Klune said about Amazon cancelling etc I will have to check it again!

I don’t think they cancelled, they just pushed back the release date. He said it’s all worked out now though.

My birthday is in August so those are basically all the plans I have! I also have a few people in my family who have birthdays too so I’ll have plans with them!
I’m also planning on reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, have you read it? 😌

I haven’t, but everyone seems to love it. The cover throws me off. It reminds of the old Danielle Steel cooks!

Fingers crossed Keeper of the Bees is a good read for you as well! I think I might have requested that too now that I’m thinking about it and OOPS, I did not remember until now. Glad to hear about Mira Grant’s book, because I was slightly intrigued with that one. I’m sooooooooo here for scary movies, and you have me officially hyped up more. Great post, Birdie, and hope August is amazing!! 🙂

Please please read Into the Drowning Deep. I’d love to hear your thoughts. (Just make sure you read Rolling in the Deep first, because it’s an important prequel novella!

Good to know! I love the little short ones since you don’t want too much of something before diving into the book.

Did you read Carry the Ocean yet? Or, Point of Contact was soooo good, but be prepared for tears! Both of those are more intense, so if you want light and fluffy, I love the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet. The first one is Hell & High Water. It’s like OH WAIT!!! Have you heard of PsyCop??!

PsyCop is an Urban Fantasy series about a psychic, a medium, with some serious issues. He works as a psychic detective in Chicago. It’s M/M, pretty sweet romance, but the romance isn’t the plot, it’s just part of the story. I love it. It was the first M/M I read and I adore it!
