Blog Posts I Loved in July

Sharing blogging love is super important, which is why this monthly post is one I really enjoying drafting up.  Everyone out there writes wonderful, interesting ideas, so here I’m highlighting my favorites in May.  I hope you like them as much as I did.

Why I Hate Strong Female Characters

There’s nothing better than when another blogger writes about something that’s been on your mind for a long time!  “Feminism” in YA has been pretty problematic for me lately.  It’s like the world wants to equate a strong female with physicality and their ability to kick ass.  There are so many other ways to be a strong woman, and I’m so glad that someone took time to write about it.  Wonderful article!

How Disney Princesses Have Lied to Me

This series on Book Princess Reviews is probably one of my favorite in the blogosphere.  Mandy never fails to make me laugh, and I spend the entire time reading and nodding in agreement. Why doesn’t my hair flow like a Disney Princess?!  Why don’t birds flutter down into my hand when I’m outside singing??  I need some squirrel friends to sew me a dress!  Disney, Mandy is right, we feel bamboozled.

Declutter Your Bookshelves
How to Decide What Books to Give Away

I liked this entire article.  I’m always decluttering my bookshelves and looking to make space for new favorites.  Not only does the post offer discussion, they also included a handy dandy flow chart to help us be real with ourselves.  If we’re not gonna read it, we don’t need it.  I know I’ll be using the chart down the line when I’m ready for another purge!

Thanks so much to Kristin Kraves Books for this post idea!

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. I always love seeing these posts since I miss so much with blog hopping. I’m definitely going to have to check out the other two posts since I super agree about strong females only being equated with physical strength. Thank you so much for including my post, Birdie! ❤ Your comment was so sweet and I was doing a princess blush 😉 But seriously, why is our hair not princess hair goals??? Thank you again, and wonderful post as always!! ❤
