Ahhh, Top 5 Tuesday, how I’ve missed you!
It’s been far too long!

This week’s topic is all about book titles, which I think I’ve done before honestly.  Still, I’m giving it a shot with all new titles.  Or, I think they’re all new.  I didn’t go back and check.  I had too much fun scrolling through my recently read books.  In particular, I looked for titles that made me feel something before I even cracked them open.

Here are my 5 emotional titles.

Top 5 Tuesday was started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm!

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

When I first laid eyes on this book the title gave nothing away.  I knew I was interested, but what in the world is the wall of winnipeg?  That interest was given back twofold, because the story was just just as good as that title implied.  I love this book so much.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine… I mean, right away you know it’s a lie, and you’ve only read the title.  It reminds me of how in How to Be a Normal Person, Gus started out even morning by saying ‘today is going to be an okay day’.  There’s something about being ‘fine’ that just implies that you’re anything but fine.  It definitely made me want to read more.

Into this River I Drown by TJ Klune

There’s something so sad about the title of this book.  It sounds like utter despair.  It also sounds a little bit poetic.  Of all TJ’s books, I think is one of my favorite titles.  That one line evokes the entire feeling of the story.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

I’ll be shocked if this one isn’t on a few Top 5 Tuesday’s.  Mackenzi Lee chose a very original title for her book.  I was intrigued the moment I saw it.  I believe the title led to the popularity of this book, drawing in curious readers.  I know I was one of them.

Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I think about this book title a lot actually.  There’s a part of the book that explains what The Homo Sapiens Agenda is, and you just understand immediately why Simon takes it on.  I was really sad when they changed the title for the movie, and particularly that they chose to cut that scene.  It was one of the best scenes in the book, and it’s stuck with ever since.
