I think about this a lot, actually. Most books I read, I don’t picture them as books. I just don’t think all books would translate well into a movie, but every once in a while I’ll be hit by the need for a book to become a movie so hard that I can’t stop thinking about it. These are 5 books that still haunt me today.
Mira Grant’s story about monster mermaids is one of the best horror novels I’ve ever read. I never thought, in a million years, I’d ever be terrified of mermaids but I am now. When people talk about cruises, I don’t picture sharks, or giant squid. I picture mimicking sirens with bioluminescent hair! Terrifying! And perfect for the next horror movie!
How to be a Normal Person
I’ve been begging and begging for this to become the next romantic comedy! Seriously, someone break the mold! Give us this extremely romantic story about our beloved asexual hipster stoner, and the grumpy Gus he falls in love with. It’s full of hilarious dialogue and EPIC hugs! I need it in my life!
Challenger Deep
Challenger Deep would make the perfect movie. It’s a serious topic, but there’s a thread of whimsy through it too. With the right director, and the right cast, this story could be fantastic on the big screen. I would definitely line up to see it.
The Hating Game
When you’re reading The Hating Game you can’t deny how perfect this story would be as a movie. I’m sure the ‘hating’ premise has been done a million times, but it’s the characters that would make this story stand out. I’m not sure who could realistically play them, but with the right people this would be an incredibly enjoyable read.
Vicious
Vicious would be the Best Action Movie Ever -capitolized to make it fact. The only thing better than reading Eli Ever and Vic Vale’s epic battle of villains would be watching it! I know, in my gut, this would make one amazingly awesome movie. Some studio needs to make it so!
Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.
Oh now I would LOVE to see Vicious as a movie! Throughout that whole book I kept picturing every scene as if it was happening on screen. It would be amazing! Great list 🙂
I haven’t read Into the Drowning Deep (of any of the other books on your list—I’m so far behind!) but Mira Grant makes me think FEED would also be an excellent movie!
