Top 5 Tuesday | Five Worst Rulers

Worst Rulers is HARD. Usually rulers in stories are bad guys, so in theory they are all the worst. How do you find the worst of the worst?

Worst BEST heroes, now that is easy.

So, I tried to think of worst rulers who are worst for a specific reason.

Top 5 Tuesday was started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm!

Mayor Prentiss
The Knife of Never Letting Go

Obviously you’re a really crappy ruler when one entire gender literally dies on your watch.

King Edward
My Lady Jane

Okay, Edward was a good person.
He had a kind heart.
He was just a really shitty King.

dividerelegant

Queen Marianna
The Demon King

Queen Marianna isn’t a bad person. She didn’t necessarily have a bad heart. She was flighty and didn’t think about what affected her realm.
Bad ruler.

Estelle & Yousef
Soulbound

Technically Estelle and Yousef aren’t King and Queen, but they are Pack Leaders though. In that sense, they’re terrible. They use their constituents as a means to an end.

Extremely Upper Management
The House in the Cerulean Sea

Extremely Upper Management is the worst of the worst, because their evil affects only children. They act as though they are there for the prevention of abuse, but really they’re only about control.
WIcked.

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. Yes! Mayor Prentiss doesn’t appear too much in the first book of Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking series (from what I remember) but in the next two books, he became one of my favorite villains. He is a master manipulator. I enjoyed his character a lot. I don’t know if that means he’s one of the best villains or one of the worst!
