Anything but Books Tag!

Today I went a’thievin, and what did I find?
An awesomely fun tag!

Big thanks to Book Princess Reviews for allowing my pickity-pockety little fingers to lift this delight right from under their noses.

We owe you one, truly.

NAME A CARTOON CHARACTER THAT YOU LOVE.

Calvin because I heavily identify with some of his thoughts and frustrations, but also I identify heavily with his mother and dealing with a child that is very intelligent to the point where I wish he was dumb sometimes. Okay… not really.

I’m not that deep. I actually have a lot, but my favorite would probably be Raphael. Why? He’s mouthy, broody, sullen… grumpy… and with that killer turtle physique, he’s totally my type. I mean, yum. Give me that red masked vigilante!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG RIGHT NOW?

The Greatest Sum
by the Avett Brothers

Dancing On My Own
by Calum Scott

WHAT COULD YOU DO FOR HOURS?
(that isn’t reading)

Watching a Campfire with a good drink and good company.

Lounging around on the couch with Mr. Birdie, binge watching whatever new show obsession we share. Currently it’s The Good Fight.

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU LOVE TO DO THAT YOUR FOLLOWERS WOULD BE SURPRISED BY?

I recently discovered that I enjoy making chicken broth. The quarantine has turned me into Ma Ingalls.

I love to pick other peoples meal choices. It’s not a skill I specifically honed, but I guess I just happen to pay attention to other’s food choices. I unknowingly start to sense a pattern of their likes, dislikes, or allergies and aversions. Then, after a few days, I start too look at Restaurant menus and open guess, out loud, what I think they might like. My boss still chuckles about it.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE, UNNECESSARILY SPECIFIC, THING TO LEARN ABOUT?

Medical advances during the Civil War. It’s interesting seeing the bizarre devices and procedures used.

Enneagram! I have multiple books. I have the app on my phone, and I carry a pocket enneagram book in my purse. I spend a lot of time researching online. I’ve read a lot of different personality type systems, and none has shocked as much as the Enneagram in accuracy.

WHAT IS SOMETHING UNUSUAL YOU KNOW HOW TO DO?

I know how to clean any stain or organic material off of most types of grave stones.

You see, as an Enneagram type 5, I collect a crap ton of knowledge about areas of specific interest to me. It’s the “doing” that I’m not the best at. So, I know how to clip a birds wings, and I have a vast array of knowledge on how to properly care for parrots and bearded dragons. Does that count?

NAME SOMETHING YOU’VE MADE IN THE LAST YEAR.

I made a divorce AND a new relationship!

I may or may not have secrectly adopted other peoples children without their parents knowing? Does that make me sound creepy as hell?

WHAT IS YOUR MOST RECENT PERSONAL PROJECT?

Undoing all the shit decisions my ex-husband made around the house, which includes throwing away years worth of store clothing tags I found in ziplock bags in a filing cabinet. They were dated. True story.

I gave up the gluten!
(Mostly. Sometimes that damn chocolate cake drags me down.

TELL US SOMETHING YOU THINK ABOUT OFTEN.

Systemic racism and how it affects my child.

Police brutality and how it could possibly something anyone would try to defend.

GIVE US SOMETHING THAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE
(but make it oddly specific).

My favorite evening is laying on a blanket on a beach, watching the bridge light up as fireworks light off overhead while eating pizza.

Telling my family I’m going to bed when I’m really sneaking into my room to snuggle under my comfy blanket with the lights off so I can secretly read my kindle.

SAY THE FIRST THING THAT POPS INTO YOUR HEAD.

“The first thing that pops into my head?” (Wow, that sucked.)

Can I get this done before work ends?
(and yes, I did. A’thank you very much.)

No tagging.

We stole it, so do the right thing and hide this under your shirt until you get back to your blog.

Then answer these questions yourself, and ping us back so we can read your answers.

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. Is it stealing if the owner says go ahead? 😉 It’s been so long since I’ve sat round a campfire! Such an oddity but I adored making toast on a campfire. Marshmallows, too, though!

I cannot imagine the fears a parent would have for their child to live in this world right now. ❤

    I enjoyed reading your answers!

    1. Recently had a date day that was just sitting watching a fire. Letting my fire poker stick burn away. It was amazingly wonderful.

My son is biracial, and just old enough to really understand what these things mean for him. His disillusionment and horror rips me to pieces.
