I was so scared to read Heartsong.

So scared.

It felt like TJ was getting far too much enjoyment in antagonizing us. It’s one of his favorite pre-publication teases, to remind us he’s going to rip our hearts out! He did a great job, twisting me up inside with anxiety. I believed it would hurt.

Thank gosh, it didn’t! It was sooo good.

I’d been wondering where Heartsong would start. Jumping forward in time was a brilliant move. It started us out blind, then parceled out information slowly. My favorite! Everything unraveled so organically, with so much hope and heart. It was gorgeous.

I should have known TJ would write something that tugs on your heartstrings, but is still so romantic and tender. My favorite authors write with a cadence, and but TJ’s changes his melody in every series. Green Creek is melancholy, but soft and lovely. Ravensong felt a little more coarse, so for everyone who didn’t take to Gordo’s voice , you should enjoy being inside Robbie’s head this time around.

On another note, seeing how mature Ox and Joe have gotten makes me so happy, but also so sad. Ox is reminiscent of Thomas Bennett. It’s almost like we can feel Thomas’s hand on Ox’s shoulder, guiding him. I love that TJ wrote him as a character who emulates his true father.

Heartsong was everything I needed, reinvigorating this series as one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series ever. I can’t wait to read Brothersong and see how TJ will end this series.

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

    Oh my goodness! Great review! And great point about the different voice/cadence of each book reflecting their MC – so good! Brothersong will be the icing on Klune’s cake of destruction 🙂
