I’m always so bad at starting these things. It’s like the ice breakers teachers used to make us do during the first day of school.

To start, some of you may remember my side segment “Baby Chicks Picks.” Well, I’ve grown up. I say a lot but some say (namely my mother) that I’m still a kid. I’m 21, with a loving partner, a beautiful dog, a home, and an amazing job.

I’m also an avid collector of oddities. I have an assortment of bones from various species bones (ethically sourced, duh.) A Guinea Pig fetus in a jar. Cicada shells I found outside. Little things here and there.

I also have a deep fascination with the strange, gruesome, and creepy. To name a few: Medieval torture methods, historical tragedies, serial killer cases, unsolved cases, medical marvels and anomalies, paranormal phenomena and events. The creepier, the more disturbing, the better.

I love the arts, all. of it. Music, painting, sculpting, acting, writing. I believe creativity is the most important thing for humanity. I love its history, its impact, and how beautiful it all is.

On my free time I usually am either reading, gaming, cuddling with my fur baby, or irritating my fiancé with my shining personality. (I’m KIDDING he loves me, but I do try my best to get under his skin.) I’m not much of a people person (shocker, am I right?) I don’t throughly enjoy parties or going out into crowds, and if asked, tend to prefer to stay in my home, with my comfy clothes on.

Now, why are we here. Books, namely. That’s what we’ll be talking about most of the time. This is a book blog. HOWEVER, this is my space to write, to vent, to speak on what I need to speak on. I’m inviting you all to the conversation and want this to be a safe space for mostly everyone.

“Crow! What do you mean MOSTLY?! Isn’t that forward? Don’t you want every person to feel welcome here??”

Good question. Yes it is forward. No not everyone is welcome here. I simply don’t give a fuck. To make it easy to understand. The people who are welcome here: LGBTQIA+ people, people of all colors, of all religions, of all ethnicities, of all backgrounds, people who despise fascism, racism, homophobia, tyranny, dictatorships, wars, and genocide.

The people who aren’t safe here are people who spread hate, false narratives, and prejudice or harm to anyone else.

We’re just here to have fun, talk about books, talk about some real shit (meaning defeating the patriarchy and defying corrupt governments. Ya know, the ushe.) If I’m writing on a heavy topic or reviewing a book that discusses potentially triggering topics, content warnings will be presented at the start of the post. After that the ball is your court. Which is a much nicer way of saying it’s your responsibility to know your limits.

If it wasn’t already clear, this is an 18+ blog page, and I am sarcastic, dry, and utterly inappropriate. I suppose the formalities are done now, and I thank you all for joining me. Until next time!
