Halloween Creatures Book Tag

It’s always so awesome when you get tagged for the holiday inspired games in time!  I had to jump this one to the head of the list, just so I could fit it in the week of Halloween!  Thanks so much to Sophie from Beware of the Reader for shooting this my way so I could squeeze it in!  Sophie, you’re wonderful!

All of you, head on over and check out her blog!  You may even see a little of my own Baby Chick.  🙂

I also decided to show off some of her monster type Halloween costumes over the years too.  Enjoy!

WITCHES!
A book or character that is magical

raven-cycle

The Raven Cycle!  It’s the only series that comes to mind when I say the word ‘magical’.  It’s not the people as much as the world, and the feeling.  Everything about this series is wondrous and magical.

Mummy

MUMMIES
A book or character you can’t wrap your mind around

The Foxhole Court

This book… I just don’t understand my love for it, no matter how hard I try.  Yes, the characters are incredible.  THAT’s what I loved.  The plot though, it was so all over the place, so up and down, so unbelievable, that I should have hated it.  That should have ruined this series for me.  It didn’t.  I love it so much I haven’t really forgotten about it since.  I cannot wrap my mind around it.

Vampire

VAMPIRES
A book, series, or author you can’t live without

You know, I feel like I should say Melina Marchetta, or Outlander.  Melina IS my all time favorite author.  Outlander IS my all time favorite book/series.  I also have to be honest with you, and with myself.  Right now, where I’m at in my life (at my age), I can’t live without anything written by TJ Klune.  He’s my go to author.  He’s my autobuy.  He’s my happy place.

WEREWOLVES
A book best read in the middle of the night

Um, I don’t know.  I don’t think I’ve ever read anything that was best to read in the middle of the night.  The only time I read anything in the middle of the night, would be because it was too good to put down.  That could be anything from romance to Dystopia/fantasy.  If I’m not 100% sucked in, I go to sleep.  Sleep is nice.

Zombie 1Zombie 2

ZOMBIES
A book you picked up for the second time/continued after DNF’ing it

monstrumologist

I quit this book at nearly 50%.  I thought it was too slow, and too gory.  Friends convinced me to pick it back up, telling me that I stopped right when it got good.  They were right.  Only a few chapters later I was hooked, and the second half was like a roller coaster ride.  Now it’s one of my favorite Gothic Horror novels.

GHOSTS
A book you easily predicted a twist or ending

God Shaped

I feel like a large majority of books are easy to anticipate a twist, or the ending.  Most of the time it doesn’t bother me.  I just feel proud and accomplished that I scoobied out the clues.  With God-Shaped Hole I figured out how it would go, then I hardened my heart and refused to feel anything but annoyed.  In this case, figuring it out did lessen the book for me.

FRANKENSTEIN
A book that truly shocked you

angelfall

I wouldn’t say that the story shocked me.  I thought this book was so good, and I loved the twists that the author took, I was just shocked how far she took it.  I think she went to a level that most YA books wouldn’t dare go.  It was bold, and I think that’s what made everyone love it.

SKELETONS
A book or character that chilled you to the bone

i-hunt-killers

The Jasper Dent trilogy was truly terrifying.  Barry Lyga did so much research on serial killers, and what makes them tick.  He wrote Billy Dent in a believable way, and Billy Dent scared the crap out of me.

GHOULS
A book that left you hungry

The Death Cure

This was probably my biggest let down.  There have been books I’ve liked less, but this one left such a hole in me because it was the culmination.  It was the end, the climax, the conclusion.  And then it gave me nothing.  No answers.  We started the series with a million questions, right along with Thomas, and when book three concluded we still had all those same questions.

GOBLINS
A greedy character

I’d say most any villain out there, right?  Isn’t that a trait of most villains?  To want?  I can’t think of anyone specific, but I think that’s because there are just so many it’s hard to pick only one.

Demon

DEVIL
A dark and evil character

Conjuring of Light

How about Osaron, from Shades of Magic.  I think ‘dark’ and ‘evil’ fit him/it to a T.  He’s the Shadow King, afterall.

SCARECROW
A book or character that scares you

Pennywise5

Pennywise from IT!!  He’s terrifying, and not just because he’s a creepy a$$ clown either.  He feeds you your worse fear, wanting all that terror inside you, before he makes you his meal!  He’s King’s scariest villain, definitely.

THE MONSTER MASH
Tag 3 or more people to do this tag:

Look, it’s 2 days till Halloween.  I know tagging was in the rules, but there’s not a lot of time left.  If you want to do this, but haven’t gotten tagged yet.  If you think you can squeeze it in, or don’t mind playing after Halloween, I tag YOU!

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. Beware Of The Reader

Thanks for playing Wendy! I loved Alex’s costumes. It was a great idea to add these pictures. And yes I share your opinion about Angelfall. TJ Klune I think I would have guessed that answer 😉

      1. Aw, yeah, that would be nice, wouldn’t it? I wish there were options like that in the comment section of WP. There’s been so many times I’ve wanted to attach something with a comment.
