I’m not sure if people know how much I love Hocus Pocus, of if it was just a fluke, but I was tagged for the Hocus Pocus Book Tag by two different wonderful blogs!  So the first thing I want to do is thank Naty at Naty’s Bookshelf, and Rebecca at My Life as a Sports Fangirl!

If I hadn’t been nominated for this tag I would have been so sad.  I love Hocus Pocus.  It’s been one of my favorites since I was in middle school when my sister had a crush on Thackery Binx… the teenager, not the cat.

Lumatere Chronicles

I don’t think this series gets enough love.  I know it’s not as popular as some of Melina Marchetta’s other series, but as far as Fantasy goes this is one of my all time favorites.  Finnikin of the Rock is hit or miss for most people (hit for me), but I swear if you continue to read Froi you will love it.  Spectacular older YA series.

Mary Hightower from the Skinjacker Trilogy

The truly evil villains are the ones who think they’re doing the right thing, for the good of everyone.  Mary Hightower has always stood out to me as one of the most evil characters I’ve ever read.  The vindictiveness and cruelty of Mary Hightower was more than most I’ve read.

Any Percy Jackson series!

It seems like all the kids love this series.  I know one of my friends has read it multiple times.  I have to hand it to them, the entire series is pretty great.  I haven’t read the newer ones, but for a long time I was pretty addicted to them also.

The Stupidest Angel

This looked so awesome, for a great Christmas story.  Plus, I’d always heard of Christopher Moore, and how funny his books were.
Unfortunately it wasn’t for me at all.  The humor is not my style.  It felt very hectic and frantic.  I didn’t even make it to 20%.

All the Rage

I can’t believe how angry this book made me!  They didn’t hold back at all, shoving the bullshit that the victims of sexual assault go through.  It was so infuriating.

Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices/Dark Artifices

As much as I loved Infernal Devices, I think it’s past time for Cassandra Clare to let this world go and write something new!  My goodness.  How much more can we get about Shadowhunters!  And how am I the only one who’s ready for something new?

Kelsey from Tiger’s Curse

Oh my gosh, it’s been a long time since I read a book with a heroine who bothered me as much as Kelsey did.  I’m so glad that authors are writing more empowering women, and not the whiny and needy girls like Kelsey.  And I’m so glad that Kelsey was also my daughters least favorite part of Tiger’s Curse.

Six of Crows

I know I was just complaining about Cassandra Clare sticking with the same world, but I guess I’m a hypocrite because if Leigh Bardugo wrote nothing except the Grisha world I’d probably be okay, especially if she stuck to the streets and wrote more anti-heroes like Kaz and his Crows.  I keep hoping for one more book about Kaz and Inej.

I don’t have one for this, not that I can think of.  I’m pretty average when it comes to my ratings.  There aren’t any books I’ve loved that other’s have hated.

The Foxhole Court

I know I’m constantly talking about what a mindf*ck The Foxhole Court was, and I swear I tried really hard to come up with a different book for this category, but I couldn’t.  I kept coming back to this story, because there really is no other book that took me on a (not so enjoyable) ride and still made me love it in the end.  It’s like the Unicorn drink from Starbucks.  You know it’s terrible for you but you just can’t help but love it!

Jamie, Claire & Young Ian from Outlander
from Into the Wilderness

I read Into the Wilderness years ago, when I was in the pinnacle of my Outlander obsession.  I read it only because of that large accolade from Herself right on the cover.  I was even more geeked when my Jamie, Claire and Young Ian made a cameo!  It was only a second, but it still filled me with so much excitement.  I don’t normally like cameo’s from another authors characters, but this book was my exception.

Tag

I think this was meant to be a Halloween tag, so I’m not going to tag anyone outright.  However, if you’re like me and you believe Hocus Pocus is a year round treasure then TAG!  You’re my Kindred Spirit!

Also, I think this was one of the hardest tags I’ve ever done.  It took me 3 days to figure out which books I wanted to use, and there was one question I just couldn’t answer.  If that intrigues you, then TAG!  You like the challenge!
