To coincide with Baby Chick’s Nevernight review, I wanted to share a new piece of artwork she did, inspired by the Nevernight series!
It’s now my new favorite piece! She’s so talented!
For those of you who have read Nevernight, I’m positive you know who this is! For those who haven’t, let it inspire you to find out!
Baby Chick shared this image on Instagram and was ecstatic when Jay Kristoff commented and told her how badass it is, and asked her to send him a copy. Her first words were, “And it’s really him mom!”
She’s just adorable.
Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.
I get the feeling I will like it but I’m a little anxious about it at the same time because it does look incredibly dense, and I sometimes struggle with that.
I had the exact same worry. Now that I’m older I struggle with books that are too dense myself. No matter how much I like them, they put me to sleep. I was surprised by how fast and easy Nevernight was to read. It’s adult and dense, but it reads quickly.
That’s great to know. Pace is always really important for me in big books, otherwise I get bored easily. I do have exceptions, and Laini Taylor’s books are prime examples of that, but I do prefer quite a steady or quick pace.
Me too. It’s one of the reasons why I’m putting off reading any of the Song of Ice and Fire books. I’ve been warned by my best friend that George RR Martin describes everything, which would annoy me. As much as I like description, it needs to be balanced and just enough to keep the pace steady.
I read the first two, and they were so long. I never continued but I was enjoying them. When I was a teenager I preferred those long behemoth reads, but now (reading at night after working) they just put me right to sleep. Even if I didn’t feel even a little bit tired, my eyes will get heavy and droop, lol.
I can understand that, especially as some of the fantasies I read do get very long. I mainly read at night too and I’m often falling asleep whilst reading.
I know this post is super old, but I loved the artwork so much that I bookmarked the page! Because of the picture I decided to read Nevernight! I loved it! I just finished it and posted my review, but I just wanted to thank you for this post and inspiring me to read Nevernight! Its awesome 😀 and the artwork is perfect!
I included the picture in my review, and made sure to source it back to this post! I hope that is ok. It really is amazing 😀
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I’ll have to let my daughter know how much you loved it. It’s definitely find that you shared the picture. Thank you for sourcing back to Birdie Bookworm!
That is a cool story to go along with that long-tailed cat!
Congrats on the Jay kristoff interest!

Yeah, I think I have a hard time with books with long descriptions.
