Diversity Spotlight Thursday was created by Aimal @ Bookshelves & Paperbacks. (The link takes you to her original Diversity Spotlight post, where she talks about her motivation for creating this meme. You should check it out.)
As I was searching for another meme to participate in I was especially drawn to Diversity Spotlight Thursday. I do love the idea of sharing books with a wide range of characters, but it was also because I’m always on the hunt for reading material that showcases people who are different from myself.
The way it works is simple. You select three books to highlight each week, using this format:
- A diverse book you have read and enjoyed
- A diverse book that has already been released but you have not read
- A diverse book that has not yet been released
A Diverse Book I Have Read and Enjoyed
I loved the portrayal of Alia and her family. In particular, I loved the way the author chose to make Alia’s decision to wear the hijab, and what Alia’s culture meant to her, such a focal part of the story.
A Diverse Book That Has Already Been Released, but I Have Not Read
George has been on my list for a long time, particularly because it’s a middle grade book about a young transgender girl. It’s a brave story for young kids, and that makes me want to read it even more.
A Diverse Book that Has Not Been Released
Under Rose-Tainted Skies is a story of a girl with agoraphobia and OCD, who can’t leave her house. I admit, that alone was what sold me on this book. The cover doesn’t hurt. 🙂
This is a great meme. And I am looking forward to that last one, too! 🙂

Welcome on board. ❤ So glad to have you participating, and I'm over the moon that you decided to choose this feature from among all the fantastic memes out there!
Under Rose-Tainted Skies sounds like a fascinating read. I've only read one book where the protagonist has OCD, so I'll definitely be looking into this one. Great list. (:

Thanks! I’m so excited for it. I’ve read two other books where the MC has OCD. One was OCDaniel, and it was Middle Grade. It was good. The second was a LGBT romance, called Disasterology. Disasterology was excellent.
I love this meme idea. I’ve been trying to find another one to do, and yours stood out as one that had a great meaning behind it. 🙂
