I love Harry Potter!  This is another tag floating around the blogosphere that I’ve been wanting to take a crack at, so it’s so awesome that Ava tagged me it!  Thanks so much, Ava.  I appreciate it!

I loved the concept of the factions, and I adore a good Dystopian novel.  There were just some writing choices made that I thought were unnecessary. (I’m not even talking about the final book and the twist, because I actually liked that.)

Surprise!

Not really?  I bet you’re not shocked about this at all.  I hit it hard when it comes to recommending Captive Prince.  I didn’t think I’d like this, but by the end I was rabid for it.  It’s one of the best fantasy series I’ve ever read.  It is NOT erotica!

This comes out in July, but I’ve been waiting for the continuation of Troubleshooters since 2012!  This is one of the best Romantic Suspense/Contemporary Romance series that exists.  If you haven’t read Troubleshooters, you’re nuts!

I HATED this book when I read it.  It brought out so many harsh volatile emotions inside me, all the angst left me completely wrecked.  I know that I’ll never reread it again.  At the same time, I can’t forget it.  It had one of the best characters I’ve ever read in fiction, Paul Hudson.  The emotion that I hated ended up leaving How to Kill a Rock Start permanently embedded in my psyche.

I really really wanted to love this.  It has an incredible synopsis and I waited so long for the ARC, because I was so positive that it was going to blow me away.  Even after all the negative reviews came rolling in I held onto hope that I would be the person that would ‘get it’.

I didn’t.  There were so many versions of the main character, and the chapters all changed POV’s… but they were all POV’s from the same person but at different ages.  It got so hard to remember if I was reading the teenage version, or the middle age version, or the elderly version.  It was WAY too much work for a book.

This was my number one favorite book when I was young.  I’ve read it a million times, and cried a million times.  It molded me into the person I am today… I like to pretend my Yorkie and Chihuahua are Redbone Coonhound’s.

I’m sure there are others I could have named, but this was the first one that came to mind. The rest of the series wasn’t quite as dark, but I remember reading Angelfall for the first time and being completely blown away by where the author went with her characters.  It was bold, and like nothing I’d read before.

I have a bad habit of assuming that all Contemporary Romance is going to be bad.  It’s not fair.  It’s not right.  Fly with Me was one of the books that shook that poor assumption and made shamed me.  It started off rough, but by the end I was crying and hooked.  The entire Wild Aces series surprised me in the very best way.  (The last book, On Broken Wing, was my favorite.)

    Seeing you pick Angelfall just made me jump it up on my TBR pile. I’ve been wanting to read this for so long now but I think it would be a good time to pick it up since I’ve been in the mood for dark reads. Awesome post =)

    And I had the absolute same reaction when I started Angelfall… Such a dark, gritty story! It definitely got me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. Although it became quite nice and cuddly right afterwards hahaha

        I think by the end of book one it had started that way 😛 But I’m not really sure as all three kind of blend together in my memory now. Nevertheless, a cool series that I would like to revisit sometime soon 🙂

    This was so much fun to read, Birdie! I have a bad habit of doing that to contemporary romances as well. I just automatically go into it not expecting anything. I might have to try the Fly With Me book then, since it ended up being so much more! I have yet to come away from one just wowed. I so agree about Divergent! A super interesting idea, but it definitely needed some reworking, I would agree. Thank you so much for the tag – I really appreciate it! I sadly have already done it before, but thanks so much for thinking of me. ❤ 😀 Now I must go look for this Fly with me book!
