From Birdie’s Flock | Baby Chick’s Art

I can’t resist using From Birdie’s Flock as an opportunity to highlight my daughters artwork!  She gets her reading from me, but she gets this love of art all on her own.  (And some cousins, Grandma’s, and Aunts, I guess.)

Lex
My little Artist, 2 years ago!

I chose my favorites from the last 4 years.  The ones that show her growing talent, and her love of creating.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

What’s inside this cup of coffee?
She came up with this idea while staring at a glass and watching the steam rise off the top, realizing that the curling of it reminded her of tentacles.
I love it.
I love her imagination.

Snow

This is an older piece she did, about 4 years ago.
I couldn’t believe my 9 year old created it.
I love the shadow of the trees, and that the image almost feels 3 dimensional.
I also love the abstract sunset as the backdrop.  It’s beautiful.

horse

This is another sketch she drew a few years ago.  At the time she was focusing on using shapes to see images.  She drew the horse for me, because I love them.
Maybe the proportions are slightly off, yet that almost makes it better.
There’s something realistic about the picture.

Sun

I think this is the oldest one I took a picture of.  It’s still my favorite.
She was so young when she created this picture, but she’s always been unafraid to layer colors to create a mood.  Even though it’s not a natural sunrise, you still feel that impression.  Along with the multiple colors in the water.
So original.

Skulls

She worked so hard on this picture, redrawing, wanting the skulls to look as realistic as possible.  I’m not saying I don’t see flaws, but I also see someone who’s learning and expanding.  (Especially the third skull.)
My favorite part of the picture are the feathers!

Maybe I’m biased, being ‘Mom’, but I love watching her draw. I love seeing what her imagination comes up with.
She’s one talented kid.

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. These are really good! I always give kudos to people who have artistic abilities because I have non, whatsoever! I have to say I love the horse, I love that it’s not proportionate!
I also love how much you encourage her art and love of it! 😀
