The High’s & Low’s!

October was a pretty productive reading month!  I took part in the annual Dewey 24 hour readathon, and while I didn’t make it the full 24 hours I did manage to read from 9am to 3am, so 15 hours of reading.  I’m pretty proud.  I read 2 1\2 longer books, and I’m pretty proud of that too.

I’ve also noticed that I’m reading more YA books again, and less of the adult romantic reads.  I think maybe the wind has changed direction or something.  I’ve just been buying a lot more YA and wanting to read them right away.  There are just so many good ones catching my eye!  I’m sure the winds will change again.

My favorite read in October was This Savage Song.  It was so dark, and the characters were so unique.  VE Schwab is a master storyteller, moving her way up to being one of my favorites.  My biggest disappointment was Monster, but only because my anticipation level was so high.  I think I was just looking for more of the same, and it was so different.  The problem was me.

The rest of my October reads were good.  It was a good month.

Next Month Reads

On the Schedule

Into Drowning Deep My New Crush Gave to Me Consumption of Magic Tried True Godsgrave Dark Duet

The Potentials

release Beard in Mind Speak Easy Turtles All the Way Down Crooked Saints Devils Thieves

If I can actually get all 12 of these books read in November I’ll be so ecstatic!  There are so many of my favorite authors listed here, it’s almost a shame I’ll be reading them all so close together.  I have TJ Klune, Charlie Cochet, Patrick Ness, John Green, and Maggie Stiefvater!  November is beautiful!

I’m also planning to finish Monsters in Verity, and read Godsgrave.  Plus, Mira Grant has a new horror series out and this time it’s about deadly mermaids!  If Rolling in the Deep was a sign, this is going to be SO good.  I can’t wait.

How was your October?  What was your biggest disappointment?

Is your upcoming November as good as mine?

I’d love to hear from you!

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

      1. Ohh poor thing!! I saw a vlog of a girl who read for 24h straight starting midnight, AFTER having had a normal day, so she was awake for 40h in total and reading for 24 of those… oh my god, I think I would’ve had a migraine very quickly!!

  1. I adored My New Crush Gave to Me. It is just a warm and fuzzy kind of book. I thought Speak Easy was a fantastic retelling. Loved the story, the characters, it was just great. And Penny Reid is always a pleaser for me too. So many good choices on your TBR.

I get what you mean about YA books. I was definitely on hiatus for the last couple of years (while my friends were raving about them), but I think I’m dipping my toes into YA again 🙂
