Top 5 Tuesday | 5 Contemporary Characters Who’d Win Survivor!

Top Five

I thought I’d keep this season of Survivor fair by going with just regular ole characters from contemporary books.  No assassins, no wizards… just athletes, teenagers, and regular ole humans.

I think it made it even more fun.

Top 5 Tuesday was started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm!

Ryan Wesley
Him & Us by Elle Kennedy & Sarina Bowen

There’s no big secret about Ryan Wesley.  This is purely about my belief that Ryan Wesley can do anything.  He’s smart, ambitious, and athletic.  I can definitely see him bringing that prize home to Jamie, just for the accolades, because he sure doesn’t need the money.

Mim Malone
Mosquitoland by David Arnold

Okay, so Mim is only a young teenager.  She’s not a fighter, or athletic, or aggressive, but she is seriously resourceful and highly intelligent and I think both of those traits are needed to win on Survivor.

Helena Handbasket
At First Sight by TJ Klune

Helena is fierce, and nobody would mess with her!  I think they’d all quit and just hand her the trophy, just because they wouldn’t want to get on her bad side.  This Drag Queen is a force to be reckoned with!

Jasper Dent
Jasper Dent by Barry Lyga

A teenager who was trained to be ruthless and cunning by his Serial Killer father is definitely someone who would be a Survivor contender.  Especially because he has all the skills, but isn’t actually a killer.  The network would have frowned on murder, I’m sure.

Cletus Winston
Winston Brothers by Penny Reid

If you put all 5 of my selections together on the island, I’d put my money on Cletus.  His mind is sharp as a tack, and he’s in shape and capable.  Basically he has the skills, strength, and intelligence to knock everyone else out of the competition.  He’s glorious.

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. Oh I LOVE your spin on this! I ended up choosing people with no magical powers per se, but they still came from fantasy and science fiction books. Great list and love the reasons why you chose them!
Thanks so much for participating – added you to the list 🙂

  2. I ended up with two magical people on my list: Philip from “Off to be the Wizard” and Septimus Heap from the self-titled series. After reading this, I can see they’d have way more of an advantage than simple humans.

Although I haven’t read any of these books, this is such a cool way to look at the prompt! I really can’t wait to read The Winston Brothers series. 🙂

  4. I love that you chose to pick regular everyday characters! I found that all of mine were some sort of fantasy novel stars…and the occasional 17th century Scottish highlander… ;P

  5. Ha, I love the topic! I don’t know any of the characters listed, but I can definitely think of a few favorites of mine who’d be awesome at the survival parts (although maybe not the social game). As a Survivor fan, I definitely will have fun thinking about this!
