About the Book:

It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall. Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him. But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Nothing has ever been easy for Harper Lacy. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding their family together while constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, she learned to be tough enough to survive. But when she tries to save someone else on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s instead somehow sucked into Rhen’s cursed world.

Break the curse, save the kingdom.

A prince? A monster? A curse? Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. But as she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

Why I’m dying to read this:

First, can we pause for a moment and admire the beauty of that cover?  It’s stunning.  I feel like I could reach out and feel those leaves.

Okay, back on track, of course I’m dying to read this!  I read everything by Brigid Kemmerer, and those one will be no different.  I’m also curious to see how Ms Kemmerer handles straight fantasy, and a retelling at that.  I’m not usually a fan of retellings, but this one is gonna kick ass!

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. Beware Of The Reader

I totally agree with you as I finished this one and it’s been 5 stars! You’ll have to wait January for the review but it’s been fantastic! And I am ordering the book for the cover too 😉

  2. Okay, wow, that cover IS beautiful, like you said! And I love fantasy and retellings (esp. Beauty in the Beast retellings), so all of this looks totally up my alley. Also, I love that there is going to be some disability rep, because that almost never happens in YA Fantasy! Anyways, thanks for a great post! 🙂 I will for sure be adding this to my TBR.
