Baby Chick’s Pick | The Diabolic by SJ Kincaid

Nemesis is a Diabolic. Created to protect a galactic Senator’s daughter, Sidonia. There’s no one Nemesis wouldn’t kill to keep her safe. But when the power-mad Emperor summons Sidonia to the galactic court as a hostage, there is only one way for Nemesis to protect Sidonia.

She must become her.

Now one of the galaxy’s most dangerous weapons is masquerading in a world of corruption and Nemesis has to hide her true abilities or risk everything. As the Empire begins to fracture and rebellion looms closer, Nemesis learns that there is something stronger than her deadly force: the one thing she’s been told she doesn’t have – humanity. And, amidst all the danger, action and intrigue, her humanity might be the only thing that can save her, Sidonia and the entire Empire…

Baby Chick’s Thoughts!

If you’re looking for a Sci-Fi/Fantasy love child, than The Diabolic is definitely the book for you!  You get a futuristic plot with a teensy bit of romance.  Actually, there really isn’t much fantasy, it’s more Sci-Fi and romance.

The Diabolic takes place in our future solar system, with a Diabolic (you’ll learn what that means in the book) and her master.  It’s about the Diabolic’s determination to keep her master safe from danger and alive.  It’s a futuristic political empire ruled by a tyrant.  It will shock you, and it will make you keep turning the pages.

Sidonia, the Diabolic’s master is a sweet young girl and the daughter of a senator.  The Diabolic’s, whose name is Nemesis (the coolest name ever), believes she is a creature who cannot feel but slowly learns otherwise throughout the book.  My favorite character was definitely Tyrus, because when you give him a chance he ends up surprising you.  There’s a lot more to him than meets the eye.

If you decide to check out this book, comment and tell me if you like it or not.  It’s definitely a great story, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

  1. Bummer, I missed this one on the Riveted’s 25 Reads of December, where they put one book for free each day. It sounds like something i will enjoy so I’ll add it to my TBR 😀
