Top Ten Fandom Tuesday Eve!!

Sometimes I wonder how I can still be into things like ‘Fandoms’ at my age.  I mean, I’m 38 years old.  Should I even know what Fandoms are?  My mother would say I should have outgrown this obsession.  I’m not sure I want to.  I like fantasizing and ‘fangirling’ about things I love.

So, here are my fandoms.  Both the ones recently discovered and the ones I’ve been a part of for years and years.

I’m also not limiting myself to books.  I hope I’m not the only one.

Life Long Fandoms

Outlander Fandom

There isn’t a cute name, or a fancy symbol.  We’re all just exuberant fans who will do anything to promote this book (and for some the show).  I am rabid in my love for this series, and while I prevent myself from ever arguing with someone who dislikes it, I will admit to some inner dialogue when I read something negative about these books.  I could admit to arguing with them in my head.  I’m also guilty of brushing off books, probably even unfairly, when they are compared.  I am a rabid Outlander fan, and I have to be proud of it.

NKOTB

New Kids on the Block

I know I know.  Look, I was 8 when I got Hangin Tough for my record player and when it comes to NKOTB I’m nothing if not loyal.  I’ve loved them ever since, shamelessly.  I didn’t, and still don’t, care who knows.  I’ve been to every concert since their reunion, except this years, and I own all their CD’s.  I will forever be a Blockhead.  (What an awful fandom name though, seriously!)

Whedonite

Whedonverse

I love all that is Whedon television!  I loved Buffy.  I mean, it’s BUFFY!  I loved Angel.  Firefly.  Dollhouse, both which were taken far before their time!  Honestly, Joss Whedon really can do now wrong.  He created some of the best shows on television.

Harry Potter

I have a feeling this one will be on a lot of our lists.  I think the Harry Potter fandom is one of the largest out there, and it’s well deserved.  I really really want to go to Harry Potter world someday.  Plus, I love what this series did for the world of reading.  Reading became cool because everyone was reading Harry Potter.

Veronica Mars Marshmallow

When Veronica Mars was on air, new, I didn’t watch it.  It’s that mental block.  Everyone who loved Buffy was talking about how amazing this show was, and that made me not want to watch it.  When I finally did, after it was over, I was kicking myself.  It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever watched, and it gave me Logan Echolls!

New Fandom’s

THIRDS Nerd

After I caught up with this series I immediately started searching for more.  I discovered the Goodreads group and the Facebook group and then I was lost.  I’ve read everything I can get my hands on, and I live on pins and needles waiting for the next installment.   Hello, I’m a THIRDS Nerd.

I’m kind of surprised sometimes by how much I love this band.  I couldn’t believe how much their music spoke to me.  Stressed Out, you almost have to be an adult earning money to really understand the lyrics.  Going to their concert, the best concert I’ve ever been to, there was such a wide range of ages.  It was amazing.  An experience.

Supernatural

This one is sort of an honorary fandom for Baby Chick.  We started this series in the last couple years, but we’re both hooked.  We got my husband to watch too, and Baby Chick sits for hours at home and watches convention clips on YouTube and looks up meme’s on Pinterest.  She’s obsessed and I’m more than happy with it.  It’s a fandom I don’t mind adding here.

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

    I’m totally a Whedonite I shipped Spuffy until the very END and read soooooo much fanfic, I even printed out my most favorite stories 😀
    Veronica Mars is such a great idea!!
    And always Harry Potter – I grew up with him, can’t imagine a world without it.
    And finally NKOTB – OMG – my teenage years, BRAVO magazines, and posters on the wall.

      LOL! I was Bop magazine, but yes. One entire wall was designated to JUST Jordan Knight. I eventually took my favorites and made a collage that is still in the my closet to this day.

      I loved everything about Spike, and I did enjoy season 7. BUT, I’ll always be a Bangel girl. 😀

        He was. Though when I rewatch the early episodes, some of them were pretty cute. Like when he thought Buffy was crazy, looking at wedding dresses. Or their first kiss in Hush. I’m such a romantic.

    Awww, NKOTB. I can’t say I was ever in the fandom but my little sister was and I was not at all opposed to hanging out in her room to drool over those cute boys on her posters, lol. And a big yay for Twenty One Pilots. They are a recent love of mine as well. Hmmm, guess I should probably starting writing my TTT post now…

      NKOTB and Twenty One Pilots… They couldn’t be more different, haha. Although, despite my loyalty to NKOTB, I have to say that Twenty One Pilots is probably the best band I’ve ever listened to. (TOP and Ed Sheeran are probably on the top of the list. I should have added Ed to the list.)
