Top 5 Tuesday | Better than Expected

Happy Top 5 Tuesday!

This week’s topic was a breeze, since I picked all these books last week when I was searching for books that didn’t meet my expectations.

Turns out, books that exceed my expectations are plentiful.

Here are my selections for this week’s list.

Top 5 Tuesday was started by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm!

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

When I picked up Dragon Bound, I was in the mood for a cheesy romance novel. I got exactly what I was looking for, but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. It was a perfect escape from the real world.

Living with the Fall by Hannah Thompson

I’ve talked about Living with the Fall before. It’s virtually unknown, very few ratings/reviews, but it’s one of the best zombie books I’ve ever read. The cover is absolutely stunning, and the content matches. Living with the Fall definitely exceeded my expectations!

Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold by Ellen O’Connell

I had so many people recommend this book to me, and yet it sat unread on my shelf for years. I think I figured it would be just one more cowboy romance, and that didn’t speak to me. I finally picked it up as part of my Beat the Backlist challenge, and I loved it! It’s so much more than what I thought. It was fantastic!

Heels Over Head by Elyse Springer

Heels over Head is another romance that, for some reason, I thought was going to suck. Instead, I fell crazy in love with this book. It’s a romance, and a swim story, and it has great characters. I was surprised but excited to rate this one 5 stars.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me has major good ratings. It’s seriously popular, and it looks like it’s right up my alley. Sports romance is my jam. BUT, it’s over 600 pages! I’ve never read a contemporary romance that long, and that terrified me. However, once I started it went by in no time. Length or not, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is one of the best contemporary romances I’ve ever read.

About Birdie

Don’t look for her in any bar, club, crazy raging party, or anywhere there may be a large gathering of strangers. She’s more likely to be found tucked into the corner of the couch watching one of her favorite shows, or preferably under a comforter with her current novel.

I had Dragon Bound recommended to me so many times that I lost count. Maybe it’s time I give it a go. I’ll let you know the result.
